How is that I can see talk in other celebrities but not BL and RR?

[edit]

I can see talk on Hilary Duff from 9 years ago but can only see talk on Ryan Renolds from 2 months ago? I am losing my faith in Wikimedia after donating $200. Someone please explain how this page is so quiet. TY. 47.223.53.122 (talk) 22:45, 21 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Perhaps you didn't notice that there's a archive page linked above which holds older Talk page messages. A direct link is here: Talk:Ryan_Reynolds/Archive_1. --ZimZalaBim talk 02:57, 1 January 2025 (UTC)[reply]

"Canadian-American Actor"

[edit]

can someone explain why Ryan Reynolds is classed as a Canadian-American Actor if he lived in Canada and started his career in Canada? Jordan Peterson is classed as a Canadian despite moving to America a while ago to work for the Daily Wire. BarakHussan (talk) 15:00, 15 January 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Reynolds became an American citizen over 6 years ago. He has lived and worked in the U.S. for much longer than that. It would be extremely silly to pretend that he's not also American. As for the Jordan Peterson comparison, see WP:OTHERSTUFF; it's irrelevant here. JDDJS (talk to mesee what I've done) 18:21, 15 January 2025 (UTC)[reply]

MOS:SURNAME

[edit]

Hi @750h+, I noticed you had restored Reynolds's full name in the "early life" section. I mean, doesn't MOS:SURNAME apply to this article? I know we would have to include citations in the lead if we don't mention his middle name in "early life". However, I don't consider it a violation of MOS:LEADCITE. It states, After the initial mention, a person should generally be referred to by surname only. The lead is supposed to summarise the article per MOS:LEAD, so therefore, the “early life” mention would be the initial mention, and the lead should not count at all. Additionally most featured articles on actors, like Scarlett Johansson, Josh Hutcherson and Emma Stone use the same format. 750h+ 00:08, 16 March 2025 (UTC)[reply]
